Massage Modalities: Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)

NMT female client EDNeuromuscular Therapy is a precise modality used to reduce pain. Students at ASIS Massage Education will gain a working knowledge of how to locate and treat trigger points in a variety of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.
By applying specific and direct point pressure to the body’s fascia (connective tissue) NMT helps release acute or chronically contracted muscles and tendons and return them to a relaxed state.
NMT techniques include the application of static pressure to the trigger points of the body. This pressure helps manipulate the soft tissue (muscles, tendons, fascia) in order to restore balance to the central nervous system.
You will learn to use NMT to effectively treat future clients suffering from the pain, tension, and stress associated with injuries, poor posture, and unbalanced nutrition.
NMT can also gradually “reset” the neuromuscular system so that habitual patterns (muscle memory) of restricted physical movement are reduced.
