CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE / Structural Integration
CONNECTIVE TISSUE MASSAGE & Structural Integration
This modality addresses the superficial and middle layers of connective tissue (fascia) in the body. It effectively promotes relaxation, vitality, and increased awareness of postural bio-mechanics. Connective Tissue Massage is designed to introduce the student to a fundamental level of sensitivity and effectiveness with regards to working with the fascia of the body.
Connective Tissue Therapy is an advanced method of bodywork that systematically releases patterns of stress and impaired functioning in the body’s myofascial system. These concepts of working with the body’s fascial webbing was popularized by Ida Rolf, and Rolfing.
“Myo” means muscle, and “fascia” means connective tissue. When providing Connective Tissue massage, we often call this work “myofascial body work”. When packaged together in a series of treatments to address the whole body, Connective Tissue Therapy is often referred to as Structural Integration. Doing this work, you must begin to see the body as a myofascial structure balanced within the all-pervasive field of gravity we live in. When any part of your structure is out of balance in gravity, both structural and emotional stress can be the result.
Connective Tissue Massage can often provide relief of many degenerative conditions throughout the body.
